We are very pleased to welcome Carsten Heydorn as Customer Success and Sales Manager at Avelon Deutschland GmbH.
Carsten has 23 years of experience in the ICT industry, with responsibilities in sales, marketing and strategic product development. Carsten focusses on strategic customer care and is a doer. His goal is to lead our partners efficiently to success.
Carsten in four questions:
What motivated you to enter the ICT sector?
I have been passionate about information technology and technical products since I was a child. I had my first contact as a schoolboy when I was a computer game tester for several years. I had intensive contact with software developers. In my youth, I assembled and set up PCs for myself and others, so it was only logical to continue my career in ICT. It was a crazy time when we students were still bringing teachers up to date with the latest technology in the subjects ‘IT systems’ or ‘computer science’.
What does understanding and realising optimal customer needs mean to you?
I have been working with software, hardware and communication for over 25 years and particularly enjoy advising customers. My core topic is ‘customer expectations and supplier understanding’ and, of course, vice versa. In the entire software industry, people often talk past each other. The stated expectations and requirements must be clear in detail for all stakeholders and the planned implementation must be transparent. Necessary changes must be identified.
When developing software, it is important to immerse yourself in the customer’s environment, processes and technology from the outset in order to achieve a precision landing. Only those who engage in detailed personal dialogue before signing the contract and entering into a partnership are prepared to successfully complete a project.
What are you most looking forward to in your position as Customer Success & Sales Manager?
I look forward to meeting our customers, some of whom I have already had the pleasure of getting to know, and to pleasant and constructive communication in which I can also delve deep into the subject matter. I can involve the various Avelon teams as required to present solutions for customer requirements. I find the synergy between buildings and ICT very exciting – also with regard to the energy transition.
What do you do in your free time and what are your hobbies?
I discovered mountain biking. Since then, I’ve been discovering the landscapes and my limits. Apart from that, I enjoy spending time with my wife, my two children and our dog.
