Daniel Schudel is a new member of the Board of Directors at Avelon. His extensive expertise in the area of cyber risk/cyber security and his passionate entrepreneurship make Daniel an extremely valuable addition to our team.
A warm welcome, dear Daniel! We look forward to rich and critical input, your curiosity and courage to try new things with a strategic view!
What do you find exciting about cyber security?
I find it very exciting that Switzerland still has a lot of catching up to do in terms of cyber security investments for protective measures. A rethink is now taking place, as responsibility has now shifted to the CEO and management. The roles and functions are being redefined and the discussions with partners and customers are interesting right now.
At the end of the day, the best solutions are useless if the decision-makers do not recognise this and are not prepared. This is where I am available to provide advice, from SMEs to large companies.
What is your motivation as a member of the Board of Directors at Avelon AG?
I would like to contribute myself and my knowledge to further develop Avelon’s business. Together with the highly motivated team and Avelon’s unique solution, I am committed to opening up new markets and to healthy, continuous growth.
I gained my experience in various management positions at major US companies such as Sun Microsystems, EMC, HP and Oracle.
What is your professional expertise in connection with the new task?
I owe my solid knowledge to the Cyber Security Harvard Diploma, as well as my 5 years of expertise in the European and Swiss market. This enables me to verify the rapidly changing requirements of customers and identify solutions.
It is sometimes frightening to see how outdated the cyber security solutions are, even at well-known companies, and how they have not yet prepared for the daily dangers. There are also companies here that have paid 2-digit million sums so that they can reuse encrypted data. In my role as DACH manager at an Israeli cyber company, we focus precisely on this risk mitigation and optimisation. With our world’s best Red Team hackers, we can use precise graphical representations to show where potential vulnerabilities are and what they would cost a company. With a so-called mitigation plan, we can counteract identified risks in a cost-efficient manner.
