Kliniken Valens ‒ controlling based on energy data
With seven locations (plus one in planning), the clinic group Valens is the largest rehabilitation provider in Switzerland. At their headquarters in Valens, the group rely fully on Avelon solutions and plan a common, centrally operated energy data controlling for all locations.
During the renovation of the public thermal bath, the sheep of a Grisons artist were allowed to temporarily use the pool.
Ivan Garcia, team leader of the technical service, is responsible for handling the energy management and controlling project and explains how the cooperation came about: “Avelon impressed us with their innovative solutions and this was ultimately the decisive factor for us to work with Avelon. The possibilities for energy controlling and reporting of the Avelon Cloud as well as the interfaces to plant engineering and building management system, respectively, provide us with the foundation to plan future solutions today”.
After the renovation, the “bathed water” is used for heating energy production. The heat is extracted from the water and processed by a heat pump to charge the heat storage tank. “Avelon helps us to measure energy flows, heat and electricity. A Beetle is used to collect the data and draw conclusions,” adds Garcia.
In addition, Wisely sensors are also in use in various rooms at the clinic group’s main site to give employees a feel for their energy consumption. Ivan Garcia: “LoRaWAN plays a very important role here, as the campus is not fully networked. With LoRaWAN we can overcome the sometimes long distances between the numerous external buildings and collect the data automatically. In the past, we had to laboriously read it out manually.
The clinics in Valens also operate a heating network. We are very grateful to Avelon in this respect, as we can leverage the services of Avelon Cloud to be able to invoice the service charges”.
